Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef (90% lean)
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper
- 2 cups sliced mushrooms
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups beef broth
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 12 meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 6–8 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
- Reduce heat to medium. Add butter to the skillet and sauté mushrooms until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle flour over mushrooms and cook for 1 minute, stirring.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth and Dijon mustard; bring to a simmer.
- Return meatballs to the skillet. Cover and cook for 8–10 minutes until meatballs are cooked through and gravy thickens.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes or cauliflower rice for a lighter option.
Gourmet Geek Tip
Don't overcrowd the skillet; brown meatballs in batches if necessary. | For smoother gravy, whisk vigorously after adding broth to prevent lumps. | Serve with mashed potatoes or roasted green beans.
